A man in his 50s wearing an electronic tracking device (electronic anklet) has been arrested by police for secretly filming the bodies of women at the Seoul World Fireworks Festival site.
Seoul Yeongdeungpo Police Station announced today (September 7) that they have booked and are investigating a man in his 50s, designated as A, on charges of violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes (filming using cameras or other devices).
A is accused of secretly filming the bodies of two teenage females with his mobile phone at around 4:40 PM on September 5 at Yeouido Hangang Park, where the Seoul World Fireworks Festival was taking place.
Police, dispatched after receiving a report from a citizen at the scene, arrested A in the act.
At the time of his arrest, A was wearing an electronic anklet.
It was reported that A denied the charges during police questioning.
Police applied for an arrest warrant for A, but the prosecution rejected it.
Police plan to investigate whether A committed additional crimes through methods such as digital forensics on his mobile phone.
