A rare record has been set in the Dutch professional football Eredivisie as a goalkeeper scored two goals in a single match for the first time.
Ronald Koeman Jr., a goalkeeper for Telstar, became the protagonist of this milestone by scoring two goals from penalty kicks to secure a valuable point for his team during the 2026-2027 Eredivisie Round 5 match against Cambuur held at the BUKO Stadion in Velsen-Zuid, Netherlands, today (the 7th).
Telstar faced a difficult match after being reduced to 10 men following a red card in the 22nd minute of the first half.
Things looked bleak after conceding the opening goal to Cambuur forward Rafik El Arguioui in the 8th minute of the second half, followed by a second goal allowed to striker Niklas Binder seven minutes later.
That was when Koeman stepped up as the troubleshooter.
When Telstar's Patrick Brouwer induced a foul to win a penalty kick in the 18th minute of the second half, Koeman took the kick and netted the goal to spark a comeback.
Then, 11 minutes into stoppage time in the second half, another penalty kick was awarded following an opponent's handball foul, and Koeman once again stepped up as the kicker.
Koeman succeeded in scoring once more, allowing Telstar to finish the match in a 2-2 draw.
This marks the first time in the Eredivisie that a goalkeeper has scored two goals in a game.
This is not the first time the 31-year-old Koeman has scored from a penalty spot.
Last season, in the final match of the league, Koeman scored a crucial penalty kick that kept Telstar, which was then in the relegation zone, in the Eredivisie.
Koeman is the son of manager Ronald Koeman, who has led the Netherlands national team and FC Barcelona.
Manager Koeman, who led the Netherlands at the 2026 North and Central America World Cup, resigned after the team was eliminated following a defeat against Morocco in the Round of 32.
