A car plunged into a tidal flat in Gochang, Jeollabuk-do, in the early hours of today (Sep. 6), resulting in the death of a man in his 70s. He met the tragic end while out fishing with his son.

A white car with its front end completely crushed is parked at the edge of a pier.
Police officers inspect the inside of the vehicle, and a tow truck soon hooks it up.
The report that a car had fallen into a tidal flat at Dongho Port in Gochang-gun, Jeollabuk-do, was received at around 2:15 AM today.
Before pulling the car up with a crane, police and firefighters discovered and rescued a man in his 70s inside the vehicle, but he was already deceased.
According to police investigations, the man met the tragic accident while visiting for sea fishing with his son in his 40s.
The Coast Guard is checking nearby CCTV footage to investigate the exact cause of the accident.

A 5-ton truck came to a stop on the shoulder of an expressway, engulfed in blazing red flames.
The fire quickly spread to a mountain next to the road, sending white smoke soaring along the mountain ridge.
At around 3:40 PM today, a report was received that a truck had caught fire near the Dopyeong Tunnel on the Daegu-Pohang Expressway.
The driver managed to escape safely and avoid injury, but severe traffic congestion ensued as traffic in the area was completely blocked for about an hour to extinguish the fire.
Fire authorities completely extinguished the fire in about 1 hour and 15 minutes after receiving the report.

Around the same time, a fire broke out at an oriental medicine hospital in Buk-gu, Gwangju/Jeonnam, prompting about 50 people, including patients, guardians, and hospital staff, to evacuate urgently.
The fire was put out in about 10 minutes by a patient's guardian using a dry powder fire extinguisher.
Fire authorities believe the fire started from a wall-mounted air conditioner and are investigating the exact cause of the fire.
