A person in their 50s who assaulted children for repeatedly visiting their home, believing they were bullying their son with a severe intellectual disability, has been sentenced to a fine with probation.
According to the legal community today (the 6th), the Cheongju District Court sentenced A, a person in their 50s indicted without detention on charges of violating the Child Welfare Act, to a fine of 3 million won with a 1-year probation.
A is accused of punching B (14), a friend of their son who came to play at their home in February of last year, multiple times in the face and other areas because B entered the bathroom wearing shoes.
A is also accused of slapping C once after telling C and other children who came to play with B not to visit the house, only for C to return on the same day.
A is known to have slapped C twice more two days later when C visited the house again.
It was found that A committed these crimes out of a belief that children of a similar age were continuously bullying their son—who has an intellectual disability—by taking his belongings and committing other acts.
