The Korea Disaster Relief Team (KDRT) has rescued a Chinese survivor from the site of severe flooding in Nepal.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today (the 5th) that the KDRT rescued one Chinese survivor from a tunnel near the Weer Dam in Nepal and recovered one body of unconfirmed nationality.
This marks the 9th time the KDRT has rescued a survivor since its establishment in 2007.
Following the rescue of eight people during the earthquake in Türkiye in 2023, the KDRT has now rescued an additional person at the Nepal flood site.
Earlier this morning, seven members of the KDRT boarded a helicopter at a Nepali military base and moved to the areas near the tunnel and powerhouse close to the Weer Dam to conduct search and rescue operations.
These two locations are areas where South Koreans who lost contact following the floods that occurred on August 26 might be located.
Due to the floods, nine South Koreans working at a local hydropower plant construction site have lost contact, and the KDRT is continuing its search to find them.
