Explosion sounds were heard near Kharg Island, Iran's largest oil export terminal, on the morning of the 5th (local time), according to Iran's Fars News Agency.
Fars reported via Telegram at 11:04 a.m. local time that "several explosion sounds were heard an hour ago in the Persian Gulf near Kharg Island," adding that "neither smoke nor flames were observed in the sky or on the water's surface."
It also noted that "no official and precise information regarding the cause and source of the explosion sounds has been released so far."
The previous day, U.S. President Donald Trump posted an AI-generated video on Truth Social depicting Kharg Island on fire, claiming that it was "being blown to pieces."
Iran dismissed the post as "ridiculous."
