The Korea Communications Standards Commission (KCSC) announced that it will conduct media ethics education for youths nationwide.
The "Media Ethics Education for Prospective Creators" begins today, targeting high schools recommended by six regional offices of education—including Gangwon, North Chungcheong, Daegu, Gwangju, North Gyeongsang, and Daejeon—as well as high schools nationwide that applied in advance.
The educational program consists of hands-on courses, including understanding media ethics, studying broadcasting and communications review regulations alongside violation cases, and practicing mock broadcasting and communications deliberations.
Students will examine cases of illegal and harmful information such as sexually explicit deepfakes and discriminatory or hate speech, while experiencing the deliberation process to develop the discernment and responsibility needed to counter illegal and harmful content.
The KCSC stated that it plans to expand participation opportunities for schools in cooperation with regional education offices.
