A South Korean man in his 30s indicted for murdering his romantic partner, a South Korean woman, in Tokyo last year has been sentenced to 20 years in prison in the first trial.
According to Kyodo News, the Tokyo District Court sentenced the South Korean national, surnamed Park (31), to 20 years in prison as demanded by prosecutors today (the 4th) for murder and violations of the Anti-Stalking Act in connection with the killing of a woman in her 40s whom he was dating in Setagaya Ward, Tokyo, last year.
According to the indictment and other sources, Park is reported to have visited the victim's apartment uninvited 13 times, sent continuous messages, and made phone calls between August 29 and September 1 of last year, before ultimately murdering the victim when she visited an office in Setagaya Ward.
The man reportedly fled after attacking the victim and was arrested and detained the following day at Haneda Airport.
