A counterfeiter who attempted to use forged checks worth 800 billion won at a bank has been caught by the police.
The Seoul Mapo Police Station announced today (September 4) that they have arrested and are investigating an individual identified as A, who faces charges including the uttering of forged securities.
According to police, A is accused of attempting to deposit four forged cashier's checks, each worth 200 billion won, into an account via a teller at a bank in Mapo-gu, Seoul, on the morning of September 1.
Suspicious that the checks were for amounts far exceeding standard transaction levels, the teller requested a verification of the checks' authenticity and reported the matter to the police.
Upon confirming that the checks were counterfeit, police arrested A directly at the bank.
Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crime involving A.
