A teenage female was arrested by police while walking near the Seoul Gangnam Police Station in possession of methamphetamine.
Gangnam Police Station announced today (September 4) that they arrested the teenage female, identified as A, on August 28 at around 5:30 AM on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act.
Under the relevant law, individuals who are not licensed medical professionals or authorized handlers are subject to criminal punishment simply for possessing narcotics.
Police reportedly dispatched officers after receiving a report stating that someone was taking drugs near the police station at the time, and subsequently discovered methamphetamine among A's belongings.
A police official stated, "We cannot disclose specific details regarding the reporter or the location of the arrest."
However, it was found that A tested negative in a preliminary drug screening.
Consequently, police are currently investigating her solely on charges of possession rather than administration.
Police are investigating whether she actually administered the drugs and how she came to possess them, including requesting a detailed analysis from the National Forensic Service.
