The legal representative of streamer Se Yeon (25), who was booked by police on charges of administering psychotropic drugs, released an official statement directly refuting the allegations.
Attorney Ahn Hyung-seo of the law firm Myosu, representing Se Yeon, released a statement on the 3rd, stating, "This incident stemmed from a situation where Se Yeon, amid escalating conflicts with her romantic partner, took sleeping pills containing zolpidem that her partner possessed, after which she was transported to the emergency room and received treatment."
Attorney Ahn continued, "Aside from this, Se Yeon has never been involved in having sleeping pills prescribed by proxy. We also clearly state that there has been no illegal possession or use of narcotics or marijuana," denying the suspicions related to proxy prescriptions, narcotics, and marijuana.
However, he added, "At the time, Se Yeon did not fully recognize the legal significance and risks of taking someone else's sleeping pills, but after receiving legal advice, she has come to realize her wrongdoing and is deeply reflecting," acknowledging the wrongdoing regarding taking the sleeping pills itself.
In particular, he addressed the recently raised suspicions of "changing hairstyle to destroy evidence" by pointing out specific dates.
Attorney Ahn emphasized, "Se Yeon appeared before investigative authorities on the 4th of last month, voluntarily provided her medical institution prescription and administration records, and faithfully underwent questioning. On that day, she submitted her hair voluntarily without making any alterations such as cuts or bleaching. The subsequent changes to her hairstyle through a cut and bleaching occurred on the 25th of last month, about three weeks after the voluntary hair submission date, and we clearly state that the hairstyle change is unrelated to the police investigation."
He added, "We respectfully ask you to refrain from groundless speculations and malicious criticisms suggesting that Se Yeon was involved in proxy prescriptions or illegally acquired and used marijuana or narcotics," and "We sincerely apologize for causing concern to many people."
This statement by the legal counsel follows Se Yeon's remarks on her personal broadcast on SOOP on the 1st, where she denied the proxy prescription allegations, stating, "It's not that I received a proxy prescription, but Oppa and I were investigated regarding a proxy prescription. That is a fact. People say I received a proxy prescription and was investigated together, but that is not true." She also admitted to taking her romantic partner's sleeping pills by saying, "Something happened with Oppa, so I took a lot of the pills. Oppa's pills."
Regarding the hairstyle change, Se Yeon also claimed on her broadcast, "I already cut 100 strands of hair when I was investigated. It was when my hair was black. Since it has already passed, the bleaching has nothing to do with the investigation." Today's statement reinforced the credibility of her explanation by adding specific dates: "voluntary submission on the 4th of last month" and "hairstyle change on the 25th of last month." However, while her broadcast conveyed her position briefly by displaying phrases like "I didn't take drugs. I didn't get proxy prescriptions" on the screen, today's statement elevated the formality in the form of an official document under her legal representative's name.
Se Yeon's boyfriend, streamer K (36), was also booked alongside her in this case. K is accused of having an acquaintance obtain sleeping pills by proxy and then receiving them, and he admitted during his personal broadcast on the 27th of last month that he had been investigated for those charges. Previously, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station booked three people, including Se Yeon and K, on July 30th on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act (psychotropic substances).
Se Yeon and K drew attention by making their romantic relationship public last April, overcoming an 11-year age gap. The two displayed affection despite the ongoing controversy, with K personally appearing on Se Yeon's clarification broadcast on the 1st to gift stellar balloons worth 1.25 million won and publicly show his support.
