Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has condemned a US airstrike on a wedding venue as an act of terror and vowed strong retaliation.
In a statement on September 2 local time, IRGC Commander-in-Chief Ahmad Vahidi denounced the US airstrike on a wedding venue in Kuhestak, southern Iran, as an "inhumane act of terror," stating that "(the United States) has once again revealed its wicked and demonic true colors to the world."
He asserted that the latest US airstrike was "intended to rob the Iranian people of joy and stoke fear among innocent civilians," emphasizing that it is a "heinous crime that demonstrates the deep-rooted hostility of our enemies."
He further warned, "The noble blood of the martyrs will never be in vain, and we will undoubtedly hold those who perpetrated and ordered this crime accountable."
Commander Vahidi also stated, "The Revolutionary Guard and all of Iran's armed forces are guardians honoring the blood of those sacrificed by the United States and the Zionists (Israel)," adding, "We will mobilize all our capabilities to protect the security of our nation and homeland."
Previously, on September 1, the US military launched intensive strikes targeting around 100 locations, including IRGC facilities in southern Iran.
During the operations, a shell hit a house where a wedding was taking place, killing at least five people, including a six-year-old boy, and injuring 67 others.
