The final roster for the South Korean women's volleyball team to compete in the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games has been finalized.
The Korea Volleyball Association announced on the 3rd that it has finalized a 12-member squad for the women's national team, consisting of 2 setters, 1 libero, 2 opposite spikers, 4 outside hitters, and 3 middle blockers.
Kim Da-in (Hyundai E&C) and Lee Soo-yeon (Korea Expressway Corporation) were named as setters, while Han Da-hye (SOOP) was selected as the libero.
Na Hyun-soo (Hyundai E&C) and Park Eun-seo (SOOP) were chosen as opposite spikers, and captain Kang So-hwi (Korea Expressway Corporation), Yook Seo-young (IBK Industrial Bank), Lee Ye-rim (Hyundai E&C), and Kim Hyo-im (GS Caltex) were selected as outside hitters.
Park Eun-jin (Red Sparks), Lee Da-hyun (NEC Red Rockets), and Jung Ho-young (Pink Spiders) will take the court as middle blockers.
South Korea has been placed in Group D of the preliminary round alongside Vietnam, Hong Kong, and Qatar.
After playing their opening match against Hong Kong at 4:00 p.m. on September 16, they will face Qatar at 1:00 p.m. on the 17th, and Vietnam at 4:00 p.m. on the 18th, in that order.
All three matches will be held at Park Arena Komaki in Komaki, Aichi Prefecture, Japan.
The women's national team, which gathered at the Jincheon National Training Center in North Chungcheong Province on the 1st, will focus on strengthening teamwork and tactical training before departing for Japan on the 13th.
Meanwhile, the men's national team, preparing for the Asian Men's Volleyball Championship opening on the 4th, has made an emergency replacement by calling up Bang Kang-ho (Korea Electric Power Corporation) in place of Shin Ho-jin (Hyundai Capital).
Shin Ho-jin sustained a bruised foot during a friendly match against Bahrain late last month.
Although evaluated as a minor injury, head coach Issanaye Ramirez determined that focusing on treatment rather than competing in the Asian Championship is the priority in preparing for the Asian Games.
Bang Kang-ho led the team to the quarterfinals at the 2025 International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) U-19 World Championship and was selected by the Korea Electric Power Corporation with the first overall pick in the 2025-2026 Korea Volleyball Federation (KOVO) rookie draft.
