People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyeok demanded today (the 3rd), regarding Minister of Justice nominee Kim Seung-won and Minister of Gender Equality and Family nominee Yong Hye-in, "I urge you to immediately withdraw the nominations of these two individuals, even now."
During the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly, Jang said, "This cabinet reshuffle has already received a failing grade from the public."
Regarding nominee Kim, he stated, "The new drug bribery case is becoming increasingly bizarre. A broker operating an entertainment bar called nominee Kim 'oppa.' Nominee Kim 'copy-pasted' the broker's text message and sent it to the Minister of Food and Drug Safety, and then copy-pasted the Food and Drug Safety Minister's message back to the broker," adding, "Once things worked out, nominee Kim even directly sent his bank account number. This is a clear case of bribery."
He continued to criticize, saying, "Even though it was a case that would not have ended with a suspension of indictment if not for the Moon Jae-in administration, nominee Kim is making excuses about 'political prosecutors.' He is a 'copy-paste expert' who even copies and pastes Lee Jae-myung's repertoire," and mocked, "This broker reportedly said he knows a lot of key figures from the Moon Jae-in administration, so we do not know how many more 'oppas' might pop out."
He criticized further, saying, "There is only one reason why such a person was nominated for Minister of Justice. It is because they need a minister who will stop at nothing and go all in on canceling indictments."
Regarding nominee Yong, Jang also claimed, "Suspicions have been raised that she engaged in activities within an 'underground organization' of the Labor Party, an organization that considers itself the successor to the Chosun Communist Party and aims for a communist revolution." He added, "While institutionalizing gender discrimination within the organization, her spouse served as the representative of this organization, which engaged in external 'spark feminist' activities. When the gender discrimination issue surfaced and he stepped down, nominee Yong took over as representative, and that organization led the founding of the Basic Income Party."
He went on to criticize, "The reason nominee Yong refuses to resign from her proportional representation lawmaker position is obvious. It is because the salaries from the organization, as well as for her spouse, would be cut off," adding, "Ultimately, it is to maintain the Basic Income Party's 'underground organization.' It is not the Basic Income Party, but an 'organization income party.'"
He said, "Nominee Yong faces opposition from all factions and generations, with only the Blue House and Representative Lee Min-seok in favor," and urged, "Not only should her cabinet nomination be cancelled, but she should also step down from her lawmaker position. The Democratic Party, which made her a lawmaker twice, must also take responsibility."
