Police have launched an investigation after allegations emerged that childcare workers abused children at a public daycare center in Busan.
The Busan Metropolitan Police Agency announced today (September 3) that it has booked four individuals, including three teachers at daycare center A and the director who held management responsibility, under charges of violating the Act on the Punishment of Child Abuse Crimes.
The childcare workers are accused of abusing around 10 children across two classes of five-year-olds over a period of one month starting November of last year.
Police are looking into suspected abuse, such as teachers covering children with blankets to prevent them from coming out, or forcibly feeding soup to children who refused to eat it.
The incident came to light after a parent filed a report in January suspecting child abuse.
A police official stated, "We plan to wrap up the investigation soon and forward the case to the prosecution as early as this week."
