Regarding U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick's mention of "targeted semiconductor tariffs," the Presidential Office stated today (September 3) that "we understand that specific details regarding U.S. semiconductor tariffs have not yet been finalized."

An official from the Presidential Office explained on this day, "The government plans to closely monitor related trends and consult closely with the U.S. side to ensure there are no unfavorable impacts on our companies."

Previously, Secretary Lutnick mentioned a "targeted and deliberate tariff policy" linking semiconductor manufacturing investments within the U.S. to tariffs during an interview with U.S. broadcaster CNBC on September 2 local time.

He added, "If you manufacture in the U.S., you don't pay tariffs, but if you don't, be prepared to pay the price to enter the U.S. market."
