An educational authority has launched an investigation after a fifth-grade student assaulted a teacher at an elementary school in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province.
According to educational authorities on September 2, a fifth-grade student rushed at a teacher in a classroom at an elementary school in Cheongju this morning, kicking the teacher and grabbing them by the hair.
According to footage capturing the situation at the time, the student grabbed the arms of a teacher who was trying to restrain them, dragged them to the back of the classroom, and inflicted a severe level of violence, including kicking them and punching them in the face.
The student, who was known to have previously shown symptoms of emotional anxiety, hurled profanities the previous day complaining that a test paper was dirty, and was investigated for committing the offense after the teacher announced today that a retest would be administered, according to findings.
It was reported that the student continued the assault while hurling insults at the vice principal and another colleague who attempted to intervene.
The victimized teacher reportedly left work early immediately after the incident and is receiving hospital treatment.
The educational authority plans to take immediate emergency measures against the perpetrator, such as separation and suspension of attendance, while supporting the protection of the victimized teacher and providing psychological counseling for the students in the affected class.
