The on-site inspection of South Korean football by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has been postponed.
The Korea Football Association (KFA) announced today (Sept. 2) that it was notified by FIFA that the visit by the on-site inspection team has been delayed due to internal circumstances.
The association added that FIFA decided to review its internal schedule and discuss the matter with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) before relaying a revised visit schedule back to the KFA.
Previously, FIFA sent an official letter to the KFA on August 21 in conjunction with the AFC, requesting information regarding the activities of the K-Football Innovation Committee.
Launched in July under the leadership of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Innovation Committee is a temporary body established to redesign South Korean football in response to widespread calls for reform triggered by the national team's lackluster performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Park Ji-sung, a member of a FIFA standing committee, and Yoo Seung-min, President of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, serve as co-chairpersons, comprehensively discussing major tasks to enhance the future competitiveness of South Korean football, such as K-football governance and youth player development.
While the KFA was preparing to submit the requested data, FIFA notified the association late last month that it would visit in person to conduct an on-site inspection.
