An explosion occurred at an oxygen plant inside Hyundai Steel's Dangjin Works in Songsan-myeon, Dangjin-si, Chungcheongnam-do, at around 9:38 a.m. today (2nd).
The explosion took place in an external pipe connected to an oxygen tank. Fortunately, it did not lead to a fire, and there were no casualties.
The facility where the accident occurred is known to be operated by a partner company within the Dangjin Works, supplying oxygen required for steel production.
Hyundai Steel stated that employees were evacuated immediately after the accident, and the situation was brought under control in a short time as the company's internal fire brigade and fire authorities jointly secured the scene.
Police and fire authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of the accident.
