Yong Hye-in Responds to Calls for Resignation: "I Will Prepare Well for the Hearing"

Lawmaker Yong Hye-in of the Basic Income Party, nominated as Minister of Gender Equality and Family, addressed demands for her to resign from her proportional representation seat on Sept. 2, stating, "I am well aware that a confirmation hearing is not simply a space to speak alone, but a space to communicate with the public. I will prepare well for the hearing so that I can organize and convey my thoughts."

Nominee Yong made the remarks while meeting with reporters on her way to work at the confirmation hearing preparation office established at the Korea Youth Work Agency in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul.

"I am well aware that there are many worries and concerns," she said. "I will listen and listen again. The Ministry of Gender Equality will always be the first to be wherever the public needs the government."
