Lee Jang-won's Grandfather Passes Away Following 'You're my destiny' Appearance

Lee Jang-won's grandfather has bid farewell to his precious loved ones.

On the September 1 broadcast of SBS's "You're my destiny", Lee Jang-won and Bae Da-hae were shown preparing a special table for his grandfather.

On this day, the couple set out to find his grandfather's favorite restaurant. However, they were unable to locate it, bringing a sense of regret.

In response, the couple prepared king crab along with sundae and sundae soup purchased from a Hamgyong-do style sundae restaurant to help his grandfather experience the taste of his hometown.

While enjoying the meal, the grandfather ate the Hamgyong-do sundae and thought of his late wife. His wife used to make sundae and flatfish sundae at home herself.

The grandfather then revealed his grandmother's sundae recipe. He explained that it is made by stuffing freshly slaughtered pig intestines with glutinous rice and pork, praising it by saying, "It was amazingly good."

In response, Lee Jang-won asked, "How does store-bought sundae compare to grandmother's sundae?" Hearing this, the grandfather showed his affectionate pride by saying, "There's no comparison. The taste is vastly superior."

That day, Lee Jang-won and Bae Da-hae also took on the challenge of making gajami-sikhae (fermented flatfish) for his grandfather. In particular, since fermenting it during a heat wave was not an easy task, Lee Jang-won borrowed the power of science.

However, after making it, he broke into a sweat because the visual resembled gajami-kkang. Eventually, they used various methods to get it looking closer to actual gajami-sikhae.

Lee Jang-won even brought the gajami-sikhae made by the couple directly to the studio to showcase it. He drew attention by revealing a unique recipe he used to eat in the past.

He shared that he spreads gajami-sikhae on bread and tops it with butter. The panelists then tried Lee Jang-won's recipe. Contrary to their expectations, everyone gave it a passing grade by saying, "It is so delicious," making Lee Jang-won proud.

Meanwhile, toward the end of the broadcast, news of the peaceful passing of Lee Jang-won's grandfather, Lee Hyun-seop, was delivered, bringing a deep sense of sorrow.

For the grandfather, who passed away a few days after the second shoot, the broadcast revealed a commemorative video to remember him. Having spent 100 years of his life without rest, the grandfather spent his final summer in a special and happy way with his grandson and his wife. Concluding the broadcast, the show expressed condolences by stating, "Grandfather's final summer will remain forever in everyone's memories."
