The government has announced a major reshuffle of senior police officials of the rank of senior superintendent general and superintendent general for the second half of the year, appointing South Gyeongsang Provincial Police Agency Chief Kim Jong-cheol as Deputy Commissioner General of the Korean National Police Agency and Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency Chief Koh Beom-seok as Chief of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.
Out of 18 provincial and metropolitan police chiefs nationwide, 14 have been replaced.
Jeju Provincial Police Agency Chief Koh Pyeong-gi, who was included among the nominees for promotion to senior superintendent general last month, was excluded from this promotion appointment.
