South Korean women's golf star Yoo In-ah will compete as an inaugural member of the Women's Virtual Golf League (WTGL), which is set to launch this November.
The WTGL announced the roster of 25 players across five teams (five players per team)—namely Atlanta Drive Golf Club, Boston Common Golf, Los Angeles Golf Club, Motor City Golf Club, and New York Golf Club—for its inaugural season today (Korea time).
The combined victory record of the 25 players totals 112 LPGA Tour wins and 15 major championship titles.
These five teams are scheduled to hold their opening tournament this November at the SoFi Center, the dedicated WTGL arena in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, USA.
Yoo, who secured top-five finishes this season on the LPGA Tour including a tie for fourth at The Chevron Championship and a runner-up finish at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship, was included on the Boston Common Golf roster.
Yoo will team up with world No. 6 Lottie Woad (England), seven-time LPGA Tour winner Céline Boutier (France), Megan Kang (USA), and Chi Chi Iwai (Japan) at Boston Common Golf.
Yoo shared her thoughts, saying, "Screen golf takes up a huge part of the golf culture in Korea. I actually first started playing golf through screen golf." She added, "Playing in the inaugural WTGL season gives me a special feeling, almost like returning to where I first started golf."
Regarding her membership on the Boston Common Club, she said, "After watching my first Major League Baseball game at Boston's Fenway Park last year, I became a fan of the Boston Red Sox." She continued, "Lottie, Megan, Céline, and Chi Chi are all incredible players. I look forward to combining our different strengths and playing together as a team."
Representing the Asia-Pacific region alongside Yoo, players such as Atthaya Thitikul (Thailand), Chi Chi Iwai, Akie Iwai, Yuka Saso (all Japan), Lydia Ko (New Zealand), Minjee Lee (Australia), and Yin Ruoning (China) will also participate.
While TGL, spearheaded by Tiger Woods (USA) and Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland), launched in January 2025, the WTGL featuring women players is gearing up for its 2026–2027 season launch.
Both TGL and WTGL are based on screen golf, while play around the greens, including putting, is conducted using an indoor short-game setup.
