Starting next year, married couples will receive a marriage support grant of 1 million won, regardless of their income or age.
The number of recipients for single-parent family child-rearing support will increase from 257,000 to 270,000, and the public sanitary product support project, introduced on a pilot basis this year, will be expanded nationwide.
The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family announced during a Cabinet meeting today (the 1st) that the budget bill for 2027 containing these measures has been approved.
Next year's budget stands at 2.1191 trillion won, marking a 5.5% increase from this year.
The project that saw the largest budget increase is the marriage support grant, with 163.3 billion won newly allocated.
The marriage support grant was created to replace the existing marriage tax credit.
The amount is 500,000 won per person, totaling 1 million won per couple.
Because the marriage support grant is paid regardless of age or income, its benefit coverage is expected to be broader compared to the previous tax credit, which was not provided to low-income individuals who do not pay taxes.
