South Korea is dispatching an overseas emergency relief team to Nepal.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today (the 1st) that it decided to dispatch the emergency relief team to the flood-affected areas in Nepal following a resolution by the public-private joint overseas emergency relief council.
This dispatch comes in response to a request from the Nepalese government for assistance in search and rescue operations in the affected regions.
Led by the Director-General for Development Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the 44-member relief team consists of personnel from the ministry, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), and the National Fire Agency. They plan to depart for Nepal tonight aboard a military transport aircraft.
