Democratic Party Floor Leader Han Byung-do said on September 1 regarding the confirmation hearings for ministerial nominees, "We will thoroughly verify their capabilities from the public's perspective while taking a resolute stance against groundless fault-finding."
Speaking at the floor countermeasures meeting held at the National Assembly on this day, the first day of the regular parliamentary session, Floor Leader Han emphasized, "We will responsibly conduct the hearings for ministerial nominees so that the new cabinet can swiftly form its lineup before Chuseok and dedicate itself to state affairs."
He also stated, "We will not waste a single day or even a single second of the 100 days of the regular session, and we will further accelerate the processing of livelihood legislation and state task legislation."
"To speed up the recovery of people's livelihoods and prepare a better tomorrow for South Korea, we will surely process the 2027 budget bill within the legal deadline," he added. "While we will keep the door open for dialogue and negotiation, we will never back down from reckless political strife and willful obstruction."
He pledged, "Just as Odysseus navigated numerous obstacles and finally reached his homeland of Ithaca, the Democratic Party will move forward toward our destination of solely the people and solely their livelihoods, unshaken by any interference or difficulties."
Meanwhile, Floor Leader Han pointed out, "Harsh language, denial of impeachment, distortion of history, and claims of rigged elections have become everyday routines for the People Power Party." He added, "This is a clear and dangerous signal that the People Power Party has lost its self-purification capacity and is degenerating from a public party into a far-right party."
He further criticized, "What guarantee is there that a party that started denying the May 18 Democratization Movement and denying the impeachment of Park Geun-hye will not deny the impeachment of Yoon Suk Yeol? I am concerned that as time goes on, they might even rationalize Yoon Suk Yeol's insurrection and glorify him as a hero who saved the nation."
