▲ Ulsan forward Yago celebrates a goal
Forward Yago, who led professional football club Ulsan HD out of a three-round losing streak with multiple goals, has been selected as the Round MVP.
The Korea Professional Football League announced today (Sept. 1) that Yago was chosen as the MVP for Round 26 of the Hana Bank K League 1 2026.
Yago led the team to a 3-1 comeback victory in a home match against Gimcheon Sangmu held at the Ulsan Munsu Football Stadium on August 29, scoring an equalizer in the 44th minute of the first half followed by the team's third goal in the 30th minute of the second half.
Recording his 12th and 13th goals of the season, Yago maintained his lead as the top scorer in the league.
Ulsan, which escaped its recent three-game losing streak thanks to Yago's multi-goal performance and Kang Sang-woo's first goal of the season, was also selected as the Best Team of the Round.
In addition, Ulsan players were evenly named to the Round Best 11 across various positions, including Yago, midfielder Lee Dong-gyeong, defender Jung Seung-hyun, and goalkeeper Jo Hyeon-woo.
The Best Match was the game between Jeju SK and Daejeon Hana Citizen held at the Jeju World Cup Stadium on August 30.
Jeju took the lead with goals from Aias in the 30th minute of the first half and Chinari in the 7th minute of the second half, and although they conceded a goal to Daejeon's Seo Jin-su in the 31st minute of the second half, Negeba sealed the victory with a free-kick goal right before the end of the match.
