A fire broke out on the exterior sign of a five-story commercial building near Cheolsan Station on Subway Line 7 in Cheolsan-dong, Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi Province, at around 7:05 PM yesterday (August 31).
The fire damaged the sign and part of the building's exterior wall, but 20 people, including visitors to the building, safely evacuated on their own, resulting in no casualties.
Fire authorities, responding to a report from a passerby, completely extinguished the blaze in about 20 minutes at around 7:25 PM.
The reinforced concrete building where the fire occurred has a scale of one basement floor to five above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 1,188 square meters.
Police and fire authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the property damage.
