At around 8:10 a.m. today (August 31), two residents trapped by overflowing water in front of their home in Baeksu-eup, Yeonggwang-gun, South Jeolla-Gwangju, were rescued.

Yeonggwang in South Jeolla-Gwangju, which was hit by torrential downpours reaching 107.5mm per hour as of 5:00 a.m. today, received a flurry of reports regarding flooded roads and homes.

An evacuation order was issued for Gochang County, North Jeolla Province, which has been battered by heavy rain exceeding 225mm over the past two days.

At around 9:30 a.m. today, Gochang County issued an emergency text message warning of expected floods in areas such as Jujincheon and Samincheon streams in Asan-myeon, ordering nearby residents to evacuate to safe locations.

Earlier, the Yeongsan River Flood Control Center also issued a flood warning for the Bujeong Bridge area of Jujincheon Stream starting at 9:10 a.m., urging precautions against potential damage.

The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters announced that as of 6:00 a.m. today, 432 cases of damage, including flooded roads and homes, have been reported.
