"Rice, Now Too?" Japan's Territorial Claim on Rice Packaging Sparks Backlash

[Anchor] Lastly, Japan has been releasing various products asserting its territorial claims over Dokdo, and now it's rice?

[Reporter] Yes, looking at photos recently released by Professor Seo Kyeong-duk of Sungshin Women's University, a 2kg package of rice produced in Shimane Prefecture, Japan, prominently features the large inscriptions "Japanese Territory Takeshima" and "Rice Produced in Shimane Prefecture."

The packaging also includes the absurd claim that Takeshima, Japan's term for Dokdo, is "an inherent territory of Japan."

This is not the first time Shimane Prefecture has used its territorial claims over Dokdo in commercial products.

Back in April, salt marked with "Takeshima" sparked controversy, and every year in February, designated as "Takeshima Day," the prefecture sells "Takeshima curry" in its cafeteria.

Korean netizens reacted with comments such as, "Are they even using rice now?" and "Putting forced claims on products does not change history."
