Liquid Nitrogen Leaks at Electrical Equipment Factory in Chungju; No Casualties Reported

Around 6:53 p.m. today (August 30), an accident occurred at an electrical equipment manufacturing plant in Sanchuk-myeon, Chungju, North Chungcheong Province, resulting in the leakage of approximately 1,500 liters of liquid nitrogen.

Liquid nitrogen is gaseous nitrogen in liquid form, and coming into contact with the human body can cause injuries such as burns.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene after receiving a report, deploying 15 pieces of equipment and 45 personnel to carry out safety measures.

The factory was not in operation at the time of the accident, preventing any casualties.

Police and fire authorities are currently investigating the exact cause of the incident.
