President Lee Jae-myung has initiated the formation of his second-term cabinet by nominating ministerial candidates for six government departments, including the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Justice.
Kang Hoon-sik, Chief of Staff to the President, announced today (the 30th) that President Lee nominated incumbent 1st Vice Minister of Economy and Finance Lee Hyung-il as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Seung-won as Minister of Justice, and former Deputy Commander of the ROK-U.S. Combined Forces Command Kang Shin-chul as Minister of National Defense.
Additionally, incumbent 1st Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Hong Ji-sun was nominated as Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Democratic Party lawmaker Lee So-young as Minister of SMEs and Startups, and Basic Income Party lawmaker Yong Hye-in as Minister of Gender Equality and Family.
