Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) announced that a male worker in his 50s died while working at Uiwang Station on the Gyeongbu Line at around 7:20 a.m. today (August 29).
At the time of the accident, the worker was reportedly carrying out "shunting operations," which involve connecting, disconnecting, or moving railcars to form a train.
Due to the accident, shunting operations at Uiwang Station have been completely suspended, while trains are currently operating normally, according to authorities.
KORAIL expressed deep regret over today's accident and stated that it will handle the funeral and follow-up measures with the utmost respect and care.
