A fire broke out at an auto repair shop in Dongtan-gu, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, at around 5:18 PM today (August 28).
The blaze left a man in his 50s, an affiliate of the shop, seriously injured, and he was transported to a hospital.
A series of explosions inside the facility prompted authorities to briefly issue a Level 1 response.
Responding to reports that an explosion had occurred at the auto repair shop, firefighters deployed around 90 personnel and roughly 20 pieces of equipment, bringing the major flames under control in about 30 minutes.
Fire authorities are prioritizing search and rescue operations for any individuals who may remain inside.
Once the fire is completely extinguished, police and fire authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire and the scale of the damage.
