A fire broke out at a paint raw material factory in Dongnam-gu, Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province, at around 11:44 a.m. today (August 28).
Fire authorities, responding to the report, issued a Level 1 response at 12:05 p.m. and engaged in firefighting operations, bringing the major fire under control in about two hours.
The fire resulted in three fatalities, one of whom was confirmed to be a woman in her 70s who worked at the company cafeteria.
The identities of the remaining two victims are currently being verified.
Additionally, a 30-year-old Indonesian national suffered burns, and a firefighter dispatched to the scene sustained a wrist injury after being struck by falling debris.
Police and fire authorities plan to conduct additional searches for casualties once the fire is completely extinguished, while investigating the cause of the fire and the scale of the damage.
