As the fall moving season kicks off next month, the volume of new apartment move-ins nationwide is projected to hit a yearly low.
According to a survey by Real Estate 114 on the 28th, the total volume of new apartments scheduled for occupancy next month is tallied at 14,174 households.
This is not only the lowest volume so far this year, but also the lowest monthly figure in 6 years and 5 months since April 2021, when 13,354 households were recorded.
The move-in volume in the capital region stands at 9,514 households, a 23% increase compared to 7,763 households in the same month last year, but a 24% decrease from August's 12,488 households.
Seoul is expected to see 3,438 households move in, Gyeonggi Province 5,950 households, and Incheon a mere 126 households.
The scheduled move-in volume in regional areas is projected to total 4,660 households, a 37% decrease compared to 7,357 households last year.
This is due to contracted apartment supplies in major metropolitan cities such as Busan, Daegu, Daejeon, and Ulsan.
An official from Real Estate 114 said, "As apartment move-in volumes drop significantly just as we enter the fall moving season, price sensitivity in the lease market could be greater than ever," adding, "Jeonse and monthly rent prices could become unstable not only in the capital region but also in regional areas."
