Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad stated on the 27th (local time) that Iran has not suspended its oil exports despite the United States' intensifying naval blockade and economic sanctions.
According to state broadcaster IRIB, Minister Paknejad said, "Crude oil sales have not stopped. Although sales volume has decreased, the delivery of crude oil to customers in distant waters is ongoing."
He added, "I will not mention specific details because if related information is made public, it could be exploited by the enemy."
Minister Paknejad's remarks appear to be in mind of the recent situation where the U.S. has maximized its naval blockade and economic sanctions to completely cut off crude oil exports, which are Iran's core source of revenue.
On the 24th, the U.S. declared "Operation Economic Outcast," targeting even other countries that trade certain goods with Iran as part of efforts to pressure Tehran.
In particular, the U.S. designated entities, individuals, and vessels worldwide that help the Iranian regime generate oil revenues as new targets of sanctions.
China is known to be the largest buyer, purchasing more than 80 percent of Iranian crude oil.
