National Assembly Speaker Cho Jung-sik appointed four individuals as direct advisors to the National Assembly Speaker during a ceremony at the Speaker's reception room this afternoon (the 27th): Chung Seung, former president of the Korea Rural Community Corporation; Song Jong-wook, former president of Gwangju Bank; Moon Chul-woo, a professor at Sungkyunkwan University; and Koh Sam-seo, a chair professor at Dongguk University.
Speaker Cho stated, "Past National Assembly Speakers have appointed experts in various fields as advisors to seek their counsel, and this time we have brought in experienced experts with deep expertise in innovative growth, finance and economy, future growth, and culture, broadcasting, and communications." He added, "I look forward to receiving diverse advice from each of you regarding the policy direction of the National Assembly in your respective fields."
He continued, "In particular, I want to pay special attention to policies and legislation for people's livelihoods and the economy," urging them to "actively provide policy proposals that can boost economic vitality and improve the lives of the citizens, as well as opinions on important matters among the bills submitted to the National Assembly."
Speaker Cho emphasized, "While there are issues where political views are sharply divided, livelihood, economy, and future growth are matters tied to the lives of the people and the future of South Korea." He added, "As the world changes rapidly, the National Assembly must also swiftly support necessary policies and legislation in line with the pace of change."
He further noted, "Once the regular session of the National Assembly begins, various policies, bills, audits of state administration, and budget reviews will get underway in earnest," asking them to "frequently share opinions on pending issues and tasks in each field moving forward."
