As various rumors spread across Jeju Island in connection with the false closure of a missing person case, a map marking the locations of recently found missing persons who died has been created and distributed.
The map, posted on online communities and social media, marks the locations where four missing persons who were recently found dead were discovered in Hallim-eup, Aewol-eup, Jocheon-eup, and Gujwa-eup in Jeju City.
First, the body of a person surnamed Chang was found on the 24th in a palm grove in Suwon-ri, Hallim-eup, Jeju City. On the same day, a man who had been reported missing was found dead in Aewol-eup, Jeju City.
Previously, on the 23rd, a man in his 70s was found in the waters off Sinheung-ri, Jocheon-eup, Jeju City.
In addition, on the 22nd, a man in his 60s, who was first reported missing on July 2nd, was found dead in Songdang-ri, Gujwa-eup, Jeju City.
As the news spread that four missing persons were found dead in different locations within just three days, various suspicions have been raised online, turning into rumors linking these cases together.
Some social media posts are even fueling anxiety by spreading completely unverified claims, such as rumors that "there is a hideout for an organ trafficking ring from China in Jeju."
In response, internet users are reacting with comments like "It's scary to go alone," and some are even moving to cancel their Jeju trips and change their destinations.
To date, it has not been confirmed that the deaths of these four individuals are related to one another.
