Kim So-young, the defendant in the "serial drug murder case," has been sentenced to life imprisonment in the first trial.
The Seoul Northern District Court sentenced Kim, who was indicted and detained on charges including murder, to life imprisonment today (the 27th) and ordered her to wear a location-tracking electronic device for 30 years.
The court determined that Kim fully anticipated the result of death, thus recognizing her intent to murder, and stated, "The claim that she only intended to make the victims sleep temporarily to fend off sexual violence is unacceptable."
Previously, during the sentencing hearing on the 18th, prosecutors demanded the death penalty for Kim, citing the grave nature of her crimes and her lack of remorse.
