DPK Floor Leader Han Byeong-do Declares Legislative War on Real Estate and Mega-Special Zones, Warning Against Opposition Obstruction

Democratic Party of Korea Floor Leader Han Byeong-do announced, "We will enter a legislative war ranging from real estate supply legislation closely tied to the people's livelihoods to the enactment of the Mega-Special Zone Act for the success of mega projects, the establishment of a future response fund to serve as primer water for future growth engines, youth issues, and police reform."

Floor Leader Han made the remarks today (the 27th) during the National Assembly members' workshop in preparation for the regular session of the National Assembly, held at Inspire Resort in Incheon, stating, "During the regular session of the National Assembly, the Democratic Party must produce tangible results that will substantially change the lives of the people."

Floor Leader Han emphasized, "Through organic party-government-presidential cooperation, such as regularizing high-level party-government and working-level party-government meetings, we will set priorities for state affairs tasks and livelihood bills, and meticulously prepare handling deadlines and negotiation strategies," adding, "We will fully operate standing committees to finalize legislation with a sense of speed."

He continued, "We will not tolerate even a bit of the People Power Party's obstruction of state affairs," and said, "We will make a National Assembly that works solely for the people, even by actively utilizing the shortened fast-track system."

Regarding the handling of the budget bill, he said, "We will robustly secure a budget to alleviate the difficulties of people's livelihoods, and ensure that investments necessary for youth employment and housing, the recovery of small business owners and self-employed individuals, regional growth, and the fostering of future industries are made in a timely manner."

He added, "This year, too, we will seamlessly pass the budget bill within the statutory deadline to support livelihood recovery and future growth."

Previously, the Democratic Party forcibly processed a revision to the National Assembly Act in a recent plenary session that shortens the review period for fast-track agenda items from the existing 330 days to 90 days.
