With Seoul growing increasingly unlikely to be included in the additional new housing sites to be announced as early as late next month, attention is focusing on where the 73,000 housing units will be built. Greenbelt areas in the Gyeonggi Province region close to Seoul are being cited as candidate sites.

This is the area around Gambuk-dong in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province.

It is one of the metropolitan area greenbelts designated as land transaction permission zones by the government during the August 13 measures.
The Hanam Gambuk district, along with the area around Daegok Station in Goyang, is pointed out by the industry as a likely supply candidate site.
It is adjacent to Songpa-gu and Gangdong-gu in Seoul, and is not far from Dunchon Oryun Station on Seoul Subway Line 9.
In 2010, the government tried to create a Bogumjari housing district to supply 20,000 households, but development was once canceled as residents even filed lawsuits to oppose it.
Residents now say the atmosphere has changed, expressing expectations for the lifting of the greenbelt and housing supply.
[Resident in Gambuk-dong, Hanam, Gyeonggi Province: This place has good location conditions and good transportation. Hasn't it been tied up as a greenbelt for a very long time? Isn't it about time for it to be lifted?]
Including this place, greenbelts in 10 cities in Gyeonggi Province, including Seongnam, Uijeongbu, Gwangmyeong, Goyang, and Gimpo, as well as Gyeyang-gu in Incheon, were additionally designated as land transaction permission zones during the last measures announcement.
As it has been confirmed that there are no greenbelts in Seoul within the 73,000 homes to be announced by the government, the vast majority of the additional volume is expected to be in the Gyeonggi region.

However, there is a possibility that idle sites within Seoul, including the Tancheon Water Reclamation Center proposed by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, or public institution relocation sites, could be added in the future.
Another variable is that the Seoul Metropolitan Government has stated it could review the lifting of already damaged greenbelts on the premise of the government withdrawing its policy to supply Yongsan Park.
