U.S. President Donald Trump is set to visit Ireland next month to attend a golf tournament at his own resort.
According to U.S. media outlets including the Associated Press on the 26th local time, President Trump is scheduled to visit Ireland from September 12 to 13.
The visit is to attend the Irish Open golf tournament held at Doonbeg, his golf resort in County Clare.
While meetings with U.S. embassy staff and business figures are reportedly scheduled, the trip is seen as leaning more toward personal rather than official purposes.
The Associated Press pointed out that it is "another example of a president blurring the lines between official duties and visits in ways that benefit his family business."
It is not the first time recently that a golf tournament has been held at a course owned by President Trump and attended by him.
On the 9th, President Trump visited a LIV Golf tournament at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, an event that saw fighter jets scramble after a civilian aircraft intruded into the temporary flight restriction zone.
The Cadillac Championship, a PGA event, is scheduled to be held in March 2028 at President Trump's golf resort in Doral, Florida.
President Trump is also reported to have shown interest in hosting the British Open at his Turnberry golf resort in Scotland.
Previously, President Trump had criticized former President Barack Obama's "love for golf," such as flying to Hawaii on Air Force One to play golf.
President Trump's trip to Ireland will take place right after the Republican midterm convention aimed at rallying his base.
The Republican Party will hold its midterm convention in Dallas, Texas, from September 9 to 10.
It is the first time a convention is being held ahead of a midterm election rather than a presidential election.
President Trump will attend both days and deliver a speech on the night of the 10th.
Vice President JD Vance is scheduled to speak on the night of the 9th.
