Lee Jun-seok Resigns as Reform Party Leader, Citing Lack of Response to Self-Reliance and Renewal Efforts

Lee Jun-seok, leader of the Reform Party, stepped down from his position today (August 26).

During a press conference at the National Assembly, Lee stated, "For a little over three months following the local elections, I have pondered and proposed ways for the party to achieve self-reliance and renewal, but I failed to gain sufficient support within the party," adding, "Today, I am stepping down as leader of the Reform Party."

He continued, "This is no one's fault, and the full responsibility for failing to persuade others lies with me as party leader."

His resignation is reportedly driven by a combination of adverse factors, including the party's sluggish performance in the June 3 local elections and the staged assault controversy involving candidate Jung Yi-han during the Busan mayoral race.
