An elementary school student was seriously injured after being crushed by a toppled moving ladder truck in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province.

At around 8:40 a.m. today (26th), a moving ladder truck tipped over at an apartment complex in Dongnam-gu, Cheonan.

The accident left a 7-year-old elementary school student, identified as Boy A, who was passing by, seriously injured after being pinned under the fallen ladder truck. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

According to police, moving company workers were attempting to position the ladder against the exterior wall of a 28-story apartment building to move items to the 11th floor when the ladder suddenly collapsed, striking Boy A, who was playing in a nearby playground.

Emergency responders dispatched to the scene following the report rescued Boy A from beneath the ladder and administered first aid.

Boy A reportedly lost consciousness at one point.

Police plan to book company officials on charges of professional negligence resulting in injury and conduct a formal investigation.

A police official stated, "We plan to check whether safety regulations were followed, including whether the ladder truck's outriggers were properly installed."
