Im Sung-jae has risen to No. 57 in the world rankings, despite failing to advance to the final tournament of the PGA Tour playoffs.
In the men's golf world rankings released today (August 24), Im earned 2.02 points, climbing five spots from No. 62 the previous week to land at No. 57.
Im finished tied for 10th at the BMW Championship, the second playoff event of the PGA Tour, which concluded today.
Although he missed out on the season-ending Tour Championship after failing to break into the top 30 of the FedEx Cup rankings, he has kept alive his chances of joining the International Team for the Presidents Cup, which is selected with reference to world rankings.
The International Team, which faces the U.S. team, automatically selects the top six players based on world rankings, with Im currently sitting at No. 7.
The International Team will determine the six automatically qualified players based on the world rankings to be released on the 31st, following the conclusion of the Tour Championship.
Even if Im does not break into the top 30 of the world rankings next week, he still has a chance to compete in the Presidents Cup as a captain's pick.
Kim Si-woo maintained his spot at No. 13 from the previous week, while Tom Kim dropped one spot to No. 29.
Wyndham Clark (U.S.), who claimed his third win of the PGA Tour season by winning the BMW Championship, rose from No. 8 to No. 5.
Scottie Scheffler (U.S.), Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland), Cameron Young (U.S.), and Matt Fitzpatrick (England) held onto the top four spots, ranking 1st to 4th respectively, unchanged from the previous week.
