Bodies presumed to be missing persons have been discovered in succession in Jeju recently.
This marks the fourth such case in three days starting from the 22nd.
According to the Jeju Coast Guard today, a fisherman discovered the body of a man in his 70s, presumed to be Mr. A, floating in the waters near Sinheung-ri, Jocheon-eup, Jeju City, at around 3:00 PM yesterday and reported it to the 119 fire authorities.
Upon receiving the report, the Jeju Coast Guard confirmed that a missing person report for this man had been filed with the Jeju Dongbu Police Station the day before yesterday, and they are currently investigating the exact cause and circumstances of his death.
At around 10:45 AM today, a body presumed to be that of Jang Mi-ran, who went missing in May, was found near her long-term lodging 104 days after her disappearance.
Jang's case was initially falsely closed by the responsible police officer at the time of the initial missing person report, but it was re-reported last month, prompting police to conduct searches.
At around 9:35 AM, another missing person, who had been reported missing to the police, was also found dead near a valley in Aewol-eup, Jeju City.
Earlier on the 22nd, a man in his 60s was found dead in Songdang-ri, Gujwa-eup, Jeju City.
This man in his 60s had also been reported missing on July 2 of last month, but the same police officer in charge of Jang's case falsely closed the case using a similar method. It was re-reported by his family on the 21st, leading to a renewed search.
