Democratic Party leader Kim Min-seok held his first introductory meeting with People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk this morning (the 24th) since taking office. Leader Kim expressed gratitude for the warm reception and stated that he will maintain frequent communication with the opposition leader, while Leader Jang brought up controversial issues such as the nomination of Supreme Court Justices and the Future Response Fund.

Democratic Party leader Kim Min-seok met with People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk at the National Assembly this morning for an introductory meeting.
This marks the first time since taking office that Leader Kim has met with opposition leadership in an official setting.
Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, Leader Kim stated that he would frequently communicate moving forward with Leader Jang, who enjoys strong support from party members.

He also conveyed his intention to continue dialogues with the opposition party on issues directly tied to the public's livelihood, economy, and diplomacy.
In response, Leader Jang stated that he would frequently communicate with Leader Kim out of the camera's view, while asking that Leader Kim—who has experience running state affairs as prime minister—support the administration's governance while also cooperating with the opposition to perform the executive branch's check-and-balance functions.
He then added that he would convey several requests and concerns, sharpening his stance by mentioning issues such as the appointment recommendations for Supreme Court Justices, the Future Response Fund, and real estate matters.
Leader Jang stated that Supreme Court justice recommendations must be accepted from the perspective of safeguarding judicial independence and the rule of law, and regarding the government creating a Future Response Fund using excess tax revenue, he noted that it should be used for the middle class and ordinary citizens.

In the afternoon, Leader Kim is scheduled to sequentially meet with the leaders of the Rebuilding Korea Party, Reform Party, and Progressive Party to greet them on his inauguration and discuss legislative cooperation measures.
