Robots are now making their way into residential apartment complexes. Taking on roles such as assisting with security and parking, they also bring a variety of challenges that need to be addressed.
Reporter Park Jaehyeon has the story.

A quadrupedal robot navigates up and down high curbs and easily passes through obstacles.
This security robot is scheduled to be deployed for apartment patrols as early as this coming October.
[Welcome. Please be careful as I am in motion.]
Equipped with cameras and various sensors mounted on top, the robot detects abnormal signs and transmits them to the control center.
[Song Chang-yeol / Lead, Automation and Robot Business Team, LG CNS: By periodically sensing the heat of electric vehicles, we can prevent fires in advance. If someone attempts to climb a wall, the camera AI module identifies the behavior and triggers an alarm.]
Plans are also underway to introduce collaboration among robots, such as a cleaning robot arriving to collect trash after a security robot detects waste and transmits a signal.
Parking robots that automatically transport vehicles are also being considered for adoption by multiple apartment complexes.
When you press the entry button at a kiosk, the parking robot slides underneath the vehicle.
Capable of 360-degree rotation, the parking robot arranges vehicles along the most efficient paths, much like playing Tetris.
It can transport vehicles weighing over 3 tons and stops automatically if there is a risk of collision.
[Baek Ik-jin / Senior Vice President, Mobility Solution Business Division, Hyundai Wia: We expect parking efficiency to increase by at least 20% to up to 50%. Because a greater number of vehicles can be parked in a narrow space, the economic feasibility is much more advantageous.]
At an apartment complex in Atlanta, United States, crimes such as residential break-ins and vehicle break-ins reportedly decreased significantly after the introduction of two security robots.
[Dominique Smith / Apartment Resident: I think it's really cool that they built a robot for security.]
At an apartment complex in China, robots receive delivery packages at the entrance and transport them to front doors, while household robots that help fold laundry or organize dishes are also being pilot-tested in various places.
While full-scale coexistence with robots inside apartment complexes has begun, issues surrounding liability and insurance coverage in the event of unexpected accidents, as well as concerns over privacy infringement, remain challenges that must be resolved.
