Car and Two Buses Collide Near Cheonan Interchange on Gyeongbu Expressway

A collision involving one passenger car and two buses occurred at around 8:00 a.m. today (August 22) near the Cheonan Interchange on the Gyeongbu Expressway.

According to police investigations, the driver of the passenger car abruptly swerved into the bus-only lane to avoid hitting a vehicle ahead that had suddenly slowed down. Two following buses were then unable to avoid the car and collided with it in succession.

One passenger on a tour bus sustained minor injuries in the accident and was transported to the hospital.

One lane was restricted for about an hour to handle the accident cleanup, causing severe traffic congestion for a time.
